Economic Development Office The City has a key role in creating and maintaining a positive economic environment and encouraging industrial and commercial investment in order to increase the property tax base and create employment opportunities. The City’s Manager of Economic Development regularly works on initiatives that lend to this role with local business and regional and senior government partners. A Williams Lake Business Expansion and Attraction Strategy was adopted by Mayor and Council in mid 2011 and is currently being implemented by the department in consultation with other community stakeholders. The Strategy identifies specific business targets to be expanded and/or attracted as well as initiatives that will improve the City’s advantages for attraction of skilled workers and investment.
