Planning for, and responding to emergencies within the City of Williams Lake involves a coordinated effort between the Municipality, Provincial Emergency Program, RCMP, BC Ambulance Service, Search and Rescue, Ministry of Forests, Interior Health and a number of other agencies and organizations.

An Emergency Planning Committee meets on a monthly basis to ensure that all necessary plans are in place to respond quickly and effectively to any emergency that might arise in the community. In addition to regularly reviewing and updating response plans, the Committee also undertakes exercises which provide opportunities for the various agencies to work together as they test the plans.
