Central Cariboo Arts and Culture
The Cariboo Regional District (CRD) and the City of Williams Lake have created the Central Cariboo Arts and Culture Function through the adoption of Bylaw # 4420 in December 2008. Through the bylaw, there will be dollars available to fund this program up to a maximum of $200,000 annually.
To assist the local governments in creating the framework for this program, Stonefield Consulting of Beaver Valley has been contracted to consult stakeholders and residents of the service area. The service area for this project includes the City of Williams Lake and Cariboo Regional District areas D, E, and F which encompasses the communities of Wildwood, McLeese Lake, Soda Creek, Dog Creek, Alkali Lake, Riske Creek, Sugar Cane, 150 Mile House, Horsefly, Big Lake, Likely, and Williams Lake.
Stonefield Consulting will be collecting information on what the needs of the arts and culture sector in the central Cariboo are by hosting focus groups and community forums, distributing survey questionnaires and analyzing the results, and meeting one-on-one with stakeholders. With the resulting information, recommendations will be made to the CRD and City of Williams Lake on how the program should be set up.
