The Community Services Department provides a wide range of recreation and leisure opportunities to enhance the quality of life for resident of Williams Lake and surrounding communities.
It manages the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex, which features a 25-metre swimming pool, leisure pool and amenities, fitness centre, multipurpose theatre space and twin ice arenas.
The Community Services Department also runs popular year round child care programs and youth camps during the summer months.

1.) How and when did your employment journey begin with the City of Williams Lake?
I began working for the City of Williams Lake in 2013 starting on as a Casual Cashier Clerk at the Recreation Complex. I was casual for only about one month before I was offered a full-time position. I worked as a cashier for about three years then went into the role of Booking Clerk for the next five years.
2.) What is your current role and what does your job entail?
I am currently working as the Recreation Administration Coordinator at the Recreation Complex. I oversee the general administration operations at the Complex.
3.) Name one or more things you enjoy most or look forward to about your job?
I enjoy the people I work with daily. We have a great team at the Complex. I look forward to seeing and hearing about all the exciting programs that the Complex and City are working on, as well as getting to interact with so many people in the community.
4.) What is one piece of advice or tip you would give to those seeking employment with the City?

I started with the City of Williams Lake working as a part-time lifeguard and mowing lawns, as well as working the snack counter.
2.) What is your current role and what does your job entail?
I am the Aquatic Coordinator. I schedule all the aquatic staff, run in-service training and teach all the courses required to become a swim instructor or lifeguard.
3.) Name one or more things you enjoy most or look forward to about your job?
I enjoy interacting with all the people, staff and patrons.
