CoWL - Media Release - CMRC Shutdown

The Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex will begin its annual maintenance shutdown on Monday, August 21, starting with the West Fraser Aquatic Centre.

Annual maintenance shutdowns are standard practice for all recreational facilities and are essential to ensure equipment and infrastructure remains in top condition for the remainder of the year.

POOL CLOSURE: Monday, August 21 to Sunday, September 10 inclusive

FITNESS CENTRE CLOSURE: Saturday, September 2 to Monday, September 4 inclusive

“Our aim is to ensure the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex remains a valuable community asset while minimizing the impact of the shutdown as much as possible,” said Stacey Miranda, Director of Community Services. “By timing the maintenance now we are able to complete work as swiftly as possible and maintain the facility’s integrity as much as we can while adhering to the shutdown schedule.”

The City of Williams Lake and CMRC staff would like to thank the community for its understanding and patience as this critical work takes place.

AQUATICS CENTRE SHUTDOWN (MONDAY, AUGUST 21 TO SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 10)

This shutdown allows Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex staff to complete important system repairs including broken tiles, filter media replacement and perform deep cleaning to ensure the pool, change rooms and amenities remain in top condition. Please note all aquatic facilities, including both the lap and leisure pool, the hot pool, sauna and steam room will be closed and serviced during this time as well.

The CMRC Fitness Centre will remain in operation until Tuesday, August 29, closing from August 30 through September 4 and reopening on Tuesday, September 5. The West Fraser Aquatic Centre will reopen on Monday, September 11.

FULL FACILITY SHUTDOWN (WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 30 TO MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 4)

During these dates, both the Fitness Centre and the West Fraser Aquatic Centre will be closed for comprehensive maintenance. This includes repairs, new equipment installation, upgrades and cleaning across all areas of the CMRC, ensuring a well-maintained and enjoyable experience for everyone.

The CMRC will completely reopen to the public on Monday, September 11 with regular fall hours. For current facility hours visit www.williamslake.ca/130/Recreation-Complex.
